This article shows you how to review and verify the Case Breakdown setup by checking parent and child item relationships in XSiteIO or XSite Classic so you can keep inventory accurate by allowing XSite to automatically break bulk items into smaller units when stock runs out.

Before you begin

  • Inventory Control must be enabled.
  • Parent and child items must already exist in your Price Book.

Steps

Review Case Breakdown in XSiteIO

  1. Go to Price Book, click Items, then click Items again.
  2. Find the parent item (for example, a carton of cigarettes).
  3. Click the parent item [PLU].
  4. Confirm Unit of Order is carton.
  5. Confirm Case Size is 1.
  6. Click [More details…].
  7. Open the Ordering tab.
  8. Check the Individual Item for Case Break Down field.
  9. Confirm a child item (for example, an individual pack) is selected.
  10. Return to the item list.
  11. Find the child item.
  12. Click the child item [PLU].
  13. Confirm Unit of Order is carton.
  14. Confirm Case Size matches the number of packs in the carton (for example, 8).
  15. Click [More details…].
  16. Confirm the Case Breakdown field is blank.
  17. Scroll to Quantity on Hand by Site.
  18. Review current pack inventory.

Review Case Breakdown in XSite Classic

  1. Go to Price Book and click Items.
  2. Find the parent item (for example, a carton).
  3. Click the parent item [PLU].
  4. Confirm Unit of Order is carton.
  5. Confirm Case Size is 1.
  6. Click [Detail Page].
  7. Open the Ordering tab.
  8. Review the Individual Item for Case Break Down field.
  9. Return to the item list.
  10. Find the child item (for example, a pack).
  11. Click the child item [PLU].
  12. Click [Detail Page].
  13. Confirm Unit of Order is carton.
  14. Confirm Case Size matches the pack count in the carton.
  15. Confirm the Case Breakdown field is blank.
  16. Open the Inventory tab.
  17. Review current pack inventory.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Case Breakdown field should only be filled on the parent item, not the child.
  • If the Individual Item for Case Break Down field is empty, automatic conversion will not work.
  • Child items should never have another breakdown linked.
  • When pack inventory reaches zero, XSite automatically reduces carton inventory and adds packs.
  • If inventory does not update as expected, confirm both items use the correct Unit of Order and Case Size.
