How do I add/edit a subdepartment?
Refining Your Inventory Categorization
Introduction
In XSite, subdepartments serve as subdivisions within a department, allowing for refined organization and management of inventory. These can be particularly useful for categorizing similar items that may require distinct handling or reporting—such as different pack sizes of cigarettes. This guide will walk you through the process of adding and editing subdepartments to enhance your store's operational efficiency.
Adding a Subdepartment in XSiteIO
- Select 'Price Book' from the side menu, hover over 'Items', then click ‘Subdepartments’.
- Press the '+' button located at the top left to add a new sub-department.
- In the first blank field, enter a unique sub-department number. We recommend using the department number followed by a hyphen and a sequential number.
- For example, if ‘Cigarettes’ is department 20, you could use ‘20-1’ for the '20 Pack' sub-department.

- Provide a name for the sub-department in the second field.
- Select the parent department from a dropdown or list to associate your sub-department correctly.
- If necessary, fill in the GL Code for further financial categorization.
- Click the white 'Add' button to save your new sub-department.
