This article shows you how to create, edit, and assign user roles and permissions in XSite so you can ensure users have the correct access levels and avoid permission errors while keeping system access secure.
Before you begin
- You must be logged in as a user with permission to manage users and roles.
Steps
Manage roles in XSiteIO
- Click [Settings] in the side menu.
- Click [Users] to open User Administration.
- Click the [Roles] tab.
- Click [Manage] next to the role you want to change.
- Enable or disable the required permissions.
- Enter a role name if you are creating a new role.
- Save the role changes.
Assign a role to a user in XSiteIO
- Click the [General] tab.
- Click the user’s [Id] to open their profile.
- Click the [Roles] tab.
- Select the correct role for the user.
- Click [Update] to save.
Manage roles in XSite Classic
- Click [Settings] in the side menu.
- Click [Users].
- Click the [Roles] tab.
- Click [Manage] next to a role.
- Update permissions or enter a name to create a new role.
- Save the role changes.
Assign a role to a user in XSite Classic
- Click the [General] tab.
- Click the user’s [Id] to open their profile.
- Click the [Assigned Roles] tab.
- Select the correct role.
- Click [Update] to save.
Tips & Warnings
- If a user cannot see a page, check their role first.
- Changes do not apply until you click [Update].
- Avoid giving Admin access unless required.
- Review roles regularly to prevent accidental over-permission.
- If access still does not update, log out and back in.
