Before you begin Steps Tips & Warnings

This article shows you how to edit a department’s tax settings in XSite so you can make sure items are taxed correctly at the POS and reported accurately.

Before you begin

  • You must have permission to edit departments in XSite.
  • Taxes such as GST or HST must already exist in your system.

Steps

  1. Go to [Price Book] in the side menu.
  2. Select [Items], then click [Departments].
  3. Review the Taxes column to see which departments already have taxes applied.
  4. Click the department name in the Name column that you want to change.
  5. Go to the Additional Options section on the department page.
  6. Open the Taxes dropdown menu.
  7. Use the toggle next to the tax (for example, GST or HST) to turn it on or off.
  8. Click [Save] to apply your changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tax changes apply to all items in the department.
  • Always double-check tax settings after making changes.
  • If prices look correct but taxes do not, confirm the item is in the correct department.
