How do I fix permission issues?
Fix user access problems by updating or assigning the right roles and permissions in XSite.
Introduction
If a user can’t access a page or perform a task, it’s likely a permission issue. This guide walks you through how to manage roles and assign them to users so your team has the access they need.
In XSiteIO
To manage roles:
- Click the Settings icon in the bottom left corner.
- Select Users to open the User Administration menu.
- Click the Roles tab to see all current roles.
- Click Manage next to any role to change its permissions.
- Adjust permissions as needed. For example, an Admin role may have All Permissions enabled.
- To create a new role, enter a name and set the needed permissions.
To assign a role to a user:
- Go back to the General tab in User Administration.
- Click on the user’s Id to open their settings.
- To add a new user, enter their information in the first row.
- Click the Roles tab in their profile.
- Choose the correct role for that user.
- Return to the General tab and click Update to save.
In XSite Classic
To manage roles:
- Go to Settings in the side menu and select Users.
- Click the Roles tab in the User Administration menu.
- Click Manage next to a role to update permissions.
- Adjust settings as needed, or create a new role with custom permissions.
To assign a role to a user:
- Return to the General tab.
- Click on the user’s Id to open their profile.
- Open the Assigned Roles tab.
- Select the correct role for the user.
- Go back to the General tab and click Update.
